SA Sports Medicine Association Annual General Meeting and end of year function was held on Monday 7th November at the popular Lion Hotel.
SASMA President, Patrick Custance, opened the 2016 meeting confirming a tough, yet successful year for our organisation. With the move from the national body, SASMA experienced some challenges yet despite this have been able to achieve a smooth transition and have continued to have a strong year. Patrick is confident we are in a sound position to continue to provide the highest quality services to our members and the sporting organisations of South Australia.
Patrick welcomed and handed on the SASMA Presidency to Dr Verity Cooper with Kate Beerworth continuing on as Vice President. With a full Council taking up roles in 2017 we look forward to continuing to move the organisation forward.
After the formalities of the AGM, past President and SASMA Member, David Spurrier, had a chat with fellow member and Manager of Performance Services for the Australian Paralympic Committee, Keren Faulkner and five time Paralympic gold medallist, Kieran Modra. Both shared their incredible, insightful Paralympic journeys. Some of the members had the opportunity to chat with Kieran afterwards and to have their photos taken with him and the Bronze Medal he won at the recent Rio Paralympic Games.
SASMA passes on a special thanks to Patrick Custance for his incredible work as a President over the past two years and we are now thrilled to have Dr Verity Cooper on board. We look forward to another bigger and better year moving forward.
