We are excited to announce guest speaker, Dr David Hughes, the Australian Sports Institute Chief Medical Officer, will be joining us.

Dr David Hughes AM is a Sport & Exercise Medicine Physician with over 30 years’ experience working in sports medicine in Australia and the United Kingdom. Dr Hughes is currently Chief Medical Officer of the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) and Chair of the Australian Olympic Committee Medical Commission. Sport sector experience includes International Rugby, the National Rugby League, English Premier League football, International Women’s Basketball and Australian Open Tennis. Dr Hughes was Medical Director of the Australian Olympic Team for Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020. He is a former President of the Australasian College of Sport & Exercise Physicians (ACSEP). Key areas of Dr Hughes’ current work include delivering national protocols to address athlete health/safety and ethical/integrity challenges in sport.

Inviting the Sports Medicine Community to join us for the 2025 Sports Medicine Conference, Sunday 23rd February 2025, Glenelg Golf Club.
The Conference will bring together a range of Sports Medicine Professionals, Students, Sports Trainers, as well as the wider sporting community together for what will be a fantastic day of education and networking.
The Conference will highlight the journey of a young athlete, with eyes on the Brisbane 2032 Games. Covering a number of topics, injuries, setbacks along the eight-year journey, with considerations from the full multi-d team. Hear from a range of speakers with panel discussions, as well as in depth workshops throughout.
The combined 2024 Conference saw over 130 delegates attend a brilliant event; we are looking to build on this again in 2025!

2025 CONFERENCE PROGRAM
Each session will outline the athletes’ stage of life, injuries, challenges, family history and the role everyone has to play towards Olympic selection. The multi-disciplinary panel follows each 4-year period, discussing their initial thoughts on injuries, management, and collaboration across disciplines, including audience interaction. Following the panel discussions will be two in depth practical workshops and to finish the day a keynote presentation.
We would like to thank 2025 Conference Coordinator, Dr David Spurrier, for his expertise and contributions to the 2025 event.
