Becoming a Student Member with SASMA 

A Student Membership with SA Sports Medicine Association is open to students with an interest in sport and physical activity. A subscription is now FREE for the first 12-months and gives access to the following benefits:


Professional Development Education Sessions


SA Sports Medicine Association run Professional Education Workshops aimed at those working, or studying, medicine, allied health, sports science, and similar disciplines. In particular those from Health and Medical Science degrees who are either currently working with sporting teams or have an interest in working with athletes and teams in the future. 

The events are a fantastic education and networking opportunity, complimenting your studies and career pathways, discounted for members.

In additional to the five annual Professional Workshops, Students are also able to attend practical, Sports Trainer workshops at member prices throughout the year as well - including concussion workshops, sports taping courses, and much more.

Finally, Student Members can access discounted ticket prices for the annual SASMA Sports Medicine Conference.

Become an Accredited Sports Trainer


Kick start your career in sport - become a Level 1 Sports Trainer!

Are you a university student studying sport, allied health, or medical, nursing or sports sciences? If you're working with a sporting club or looking to gain hands-on experience in the field, becoming an Accredited Level 1 Sports Trainer is the perfect way to apply your knowledge and build your career and networks across sport!

  • Gain practical experience managing on-field injury scenarios
  • Develop hands-on skills in taping, soft/hard tissue injury management, and stretcher transportation
  • Enhance your anatomy knowledge and learn how to support injured athletes effectively
  • Work alongside medical professionals and others, and boost your opportunities in sport
SASMA run a dedicated University Specific Level 1 Sports Trainer Course each April and September holidays.

Alternatively, Students can attend our regular Level 1 Sports Trainer Courses at a student rate.

Sports Trainer Work


Student Members who have a Sports Trainer Accreditation have the option of flexible Sports Trainer work. SASMA, and external Sports Trainer providers, cover in a range of events per year ranging from International and National Sporting events, through to school sports days and council fun days. This is a great way to get real life acute sports injury experience, while fitting in with your study.
