Short courses continue to prove to be popular

Since Sunday this week SMA-SA has run three short courses for the South Australian sporting community.

On Sunday, Daniel made his way up to Lameroo to run an Emergency Response Coordinator (ERC) and Basic Taping Course for the football and netball clubs in the Murray Mallee region. We had a great turn out with 17 coming from 7 different clubs. The participants undertook the new 3 hour ERC Course and finished the session with an hour of Basic Taping where they learnt to tape ankles, fingers and thumbs. A big thank you to Deb Lock for her hard work in getting the course up and running.

On Monday evening Carol ran a Sideline Help and Basic Taping course for the Cumberland United Football Club. This club had 12 people attend and Carol with her background as a football (soccer) sports trainer was able to pass on invaluable information on Injury Prevention, Injury Management and correct taping techniques.

Also on Monday evening Sue ran a Sideline Help Course for the FFSA at Hindmarsh Stadium with 13 people in attendance. The feedback from this session is it has given them a greater insight into the initial management of injuries in their sport.

It is fantastic to see so many groups over the last few months take up our shorter courses and give their members a chance to be trained up in initial injury management and in sports taping.

If you would like a course run for your club or association please contact the SMA-SA Office on 8234 6369 or at admin@smasa.asn.au.
