SASMA Members on the World Stage!

SASMA Members on the World Stage!

Our members have been busy over the last couple of months, being recognised for their contributions to the medical and allied health industry, as well as representing Australia on the world stage at the Olympic and Paralympic Games!

Dr James Ilic / Sports Doctor

Long-time SASMA Member, and Sports Doctor, James Ilic, is a proud member of the Field of Play Medical Team for the Olympic Football Tournament at the Paris Games!

James, who was the Matilda's Team Doctor for over 20 years, is pictured here in Lyon, France, following the days competition. James worked alongside the worlds best medical personnel in providing injury management and support to the athletes.



Sam Offord / Physiotherapist

SASMA Member, Sam Offord, has been busy at the Paris Olympics as President of Gymnastics Australia. Utilising his knowledge and experience as a former Australian gymnast, as well as a fantastic physio and now media personality!   




Mat Prior / Physiotherapist & SASMA Council

SASMA Council Member, Mat Prior, is currently away with the Joey's (U/17 Australian National Football Team). Mat is a Physio for their friendly series against the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu, in Honiara, Solomon Islands.



Keren Faulkner / SASMA President + Olivia Warnes / Sports Dietitian & SASMA Council

Keren is heading to Paris as part of the Paralympic Games Performance Insights Project Team, Keren will observe a range of Paralympic Events, identifying opportunities for Australia to involve more athletes in a wider range of sports by the time of the Brisbane 2032 Paralympics.

Liv is the lead Dietitian for the Australian Team at the Paris Paralympics, and will be based in the Paralympic Village. Liv's team will be responsible for the provision of meals and snacks to enable the Australian athletes to execute their performance nutrition plans in the lead up to, and during competitions. 

"I am very much looking forward to working with such an incredible team of athletes and staff, our crepe and BBQ night, along with heading out to the venues, when possible, to cheer on our South Australian Paralympians!", Liv says.
