SASMA Recent Events!

On Wednesday April 19th, we ran our first Professional Education Session of 2023. “The Golf Athlete” saw over 20 professionals attend a unique, intimate, practical workshop held at the Kooyonga Golf Club. Golf Physiotherapist, Ben Corso, and Kooyonga Head Pro, John Corbett, took the attendees through functional analysis of the golf swing as well as medical screening of the golf athlete. Thank you to Ben, John and the Kooyonga Golf Club for delivering a memorable session. Congratulations to SASMA Education Working Party members, Paul James and Jared Strawbridge for coordinating this unique event that attracted excellent feedback in the middle of the LIV Golf event in Adelaide.

Throughout April and May, SASMA have ran eight Level 1 Sports Trainer Courses, attracting more than 200 Participants, this included trips to the Eyre Peninsula and the South-East and more recently Crystal Brook! An additional 12 trainers upgraded their accreditations at our April Level 2 Course. Thank you to our regional presenters for delivering this important education on behalf of SASMA - Libby Harrison (Physiotherapist), Dr Simon Jackson (Sports Doctor), Angela Willsmore (Physiotherapist), Ally Russell (Physiotherapist), Dr Alison Lydeamore (Sports Doctor), Holly Chatfield (Nurse Practitioner and Sports Trainer) as well as Deb Hocking from the SASMA Office!

We have also run multiple community courses in SA schools and local sporting clubs, locally and also in the regions, including Jamestown/Peterborough and Whyalla, thank you to regional Physiotherapists, Libby Harrison and Clive Munzberg for delivering these sessions.

We held a great event for Sports Trainers on Tuesday the 20th of June, providing the opportunity to connect with Head Trainers from the Adelaide and Port Adelaide Football Clubs. Trainers also heard from Active Inclusion on what they can do to help support an inclusive environment at their club.
