Sports Safety and Risk Management (SSARM), the latest initiative of SASMA was launched last Wednesday, 3 April at an event attended by more than 30 members of the local sporting community.
The SSARM initiative received funding from Office of Recreation, Sport and Racing, and aims to provide an online hub to support sporting clubs across South Australia in managing risk and safety. Community consultation with sporting clubs, together with further consultation across the medical and allied health professions helped shape the focus to create guidelines in best practice across the sporting sector.
The SSARM online hub provides resources across three main themes – Club Management, Club Facilities and Player Health & Wellbeing. Within each theme, resources are provided to support your club including documentation and policies to develop guidelines on prevention and management of injury and illness.
SASMA will be promoting SSARM as a ready-to-use and easily accessible resource for sporting clubs to use and endorse best practice in safety and wellbeing.
Sports Safety Officer courses will be held by SASMA soon to demonstrate the resources available on the hub and how this can benefit your club and provide consistency across the sporting community.
