What a busy start to 2018 SASMA have had!
Our Level 1 Sports Trainer courses have been ran all over South Australia with us reaching a number of regional locations including Port Augusta, Tumby Bay, Loxton North, Murray Bridge, Crystal Brook & Naracoorte. So far, we have run 12 Level 1 Sports Trainers courses which has seen over 260 people in attendance. In addition to the Sports Trainer courses, we have also been able to run 21 short community courses for local councils, high schools and sporting clubs.
Our 2018 Sports Trainer Education series started last week with our first session on Ankle Injury Assessment & Rehabilitation, presented by Podiatrist Airlie Waller being a great success! This session was able to be attended in person or online which allowed over 15 of our regional trainers to participate at home. The education series will continue with a workshop on Hamstring Injuries being held in June and one on Shoulder Injuries in August.
This year we have continued to run our free concussion forums across SA. So far, we have focused on holding these in various locations around Adelaide and also have one planned for the South East in May. We recently ran one at Glenunga High School which was presented by Dr Marc Cesana and had 40 attendees and this week we held one at the Playford Tennis Centre which was presented by Dr Duncan Walker which had over 70 attendees. It has been great to see a number of parents, coaches and sporting officials from a variety of sports at these forums. There are still three more forums to come so if you haven’t booked for one already make sure you head to our website and register!
