The 2017 SASMA Members Conference was held on Sunday 28th May at the magnificent Adelaide Oval. The theme of this year’s conference was “Pain and the Brain: Current concepts & strategies for pain management of the active population”.
2017 saw record numbers of over 140 delegates in attendance at the conference along with regional, interstate and overseas members logging in via the live webcast.
The day started with the Henry Kneebone Presentation given by Professor Mark Hutchinson from the Adelaide University. Professor Hutchinson’s presentation looking at the implications of pain and how to treat it was a great overview and start to the day.
The rest of the morning involved main plenary sessions looking at pain from different perspectives including rheumatology, medical, physiotherapy, psychology and radiology. The afternoon saw delegates split off to take part in workshops before the day concluded with a time to network at the end of the day.
