2017 FAST Conference Wrap Up!

On a high following the 2017 Sports Trainer of the Year Awards, Sunday 26 February saw us welcome over 130 Sports Trainers at our annual FAST Conference.
With over 130 attendees, and 10 trade displays this was another incredibly successful conference. It is always a great showcase event made even better by the beautiful venue at Adelaide Oval. A huge thank you goes out to all our dedicated Sports Trainers who attended.
Former Adelaide Thunderbirds Coach, Jane Woodlands-Thompson kicked off the day with an insightful speech about her time as a head coach. Jane is currently the Head of Sport and Athletic Development at Westminster School, a Specialist Coach for the Northern Mystics and Assistant Coach to the Australian Fast 5’s. She is also doing a lot of work with the AFL Women's. A big thank you to Jane for offering such knowledge and inspiration to our trainers.
The morning presentation was titled "Off Field Preparation: We're more than just Game Day" and run by Adelaide Football Club Player Welfare Manager, Jarrod Meers, Sports Dietitian, Matt Summers and Podiatrist and SASMA Member, Damir Metljak. Topics discussed included Player Welfare, Nutrition for athletes and foot care, ensuring correct footwear is worn to prevent injury.
After lunch Dr Marc Cesana updated all delegates on the hugely popular and crucial topic of Concussion Management.
The afternoon workshops were really well received and once again we were lucky enough to have some incredibly knowledgeable presenters. A huge thank you to the below presenters for giving up their Sunday to help our Sports Trainers –
