SASMA Community Courses

Last week SASMA presented Sideline Help Courses to Modbury Vista Soccer Club, Broadview Football Club & Brighton High School. All participants gained information on injury prevention and management strategies that they can now implement in their various sports.

Walkerville Football club were also involved in a community course last week, the Emergency Response Coordinator (ERC) Course. In most junior sports, sports trainers are sometimes not accessible and more often than not coaches, team managers & parents are at each game and training. Therefore the responsibility often falls on them to ensure the players are safe. This course is great for junior football clubs to have someone at games & trainings who can manage on field emergencies.

The Community Courses have not slowed down this week either. Monday saw 40 participants from the North Eastern Metro Junior Football Association attend a Concussion Management course. A big thank you to Dr Janet Young for giving up her time to present. This provided participants the opportunity to ask the tricky questions they have had on concussion from one of SASMA’s Professional Members.

We have had another two courses this week and there are quite a number more being run around South Australia in the weeks to come.

These courses have all been tailored to suit the needs of the club/association/school/council. They are a great way to encourage more people in your club to be involved in the injury prevention and injury management side of things and to give parents, team managers and coaches an update on what is the latest strategies for dealing with a variety of injuries.

If you would like a similar course run for your club or association please contact SASMA on 8234 6369 or email us admin@sasma.com.au for further information.
