Louise Bawden - Sports Trainer of the Year Awards Night

SASMA are very excited to announce that Three Time Olympic Volleyballer and Beach Volleyballer, Louise Bawden will be the guest speaker at our 2018 Sports Trainer of the Year Awards on Saturday 24 February!

At just the age of 16 Louise left home in South Australia to join the national indoor volleyball program in Canberra. In 2000 she competed at the Sydney summer Olympic games representing Australia as a member of the indoor volleyball team, finishing in 9th place. In 2009 she then changed to beach volleyball and made the Olympic team for the 2012 London games.

After London, Louise teamed up with Australia’s first indigenous beach volleyball Olympian Taliqua Clancy. Together they won the 2014 Asian Championships and then secured their Olympic quota spot after finishing at world number seven at the end of the world ranking qualification period in June 2016. What great team work!

The duo went down in a mouth-watering quarter-final against Kerri Walsh Jennings and April Ross who went on to seal bronze.

Hear more from Louise herself about her life as a Three Time Olympic Volleyballer and Beach Volleyballer at our 2018 Sports Trainer of the Year Awards on Saturday 24 February.
